NES 2D Platformer

Spring legged character?

I remember renting a 2D platformer for the NES, but have trouble recalling much about it. I think there were multiple characters you could select and they may have had different abilities, which you needed to use to get past various sections of the game. I think they were also featured on the box art. I don't remember what these characters resembled, or what shape they were, but I believe they might have been different colours. I'm tempted to say you could change characters real-time in the level, but that could be incorrect. I believe it was a sidescroller, and stages weren't confined to a single screen. The levels may have been quite large. Any of these details could be wrong as I only played the game for a relatively short period of time, but for some reason it has stuck in my mind. I presume it isn't an incredibly well known game. I guess I won't expect this one to be solved anytime soon. I think I'll recognise the game when I see it, or at least I hope I will.

Yes! Pretty sure it's Uforia. Not sure how you got it with my crappy clues, but well done. The box art is pretty close to what I pictured.

I vaguely recall a game where you controlled a spring legged character, or maybe springs were just attached to his body somehow. I believe a lot of bouncing was involved and you could control the height of your bounce, which would go quite high from memory. It may have been more of a vertical platformer rather than horizontal.

I don't believe Thing On A Spring is the game that I played. I watched a video and some elements of the game seem familiar, such as the main character, but the gameplay is different from what I recall. I remember there being more vertical platforming and pipes were somehow involved. I think the character and environments were a bit more detailed too.

Maybe I just had too much cough syrup but im sure I remember a game in the 90s where you were a chicken. It was a standard platformer but had bright cartoony graphics.

Perhaps it was The New Zealand Story? It's a Kiwi Bird, but I could imagine it being mistaken for a baby chicken, especially with a heavy dose of cough syrup.

I seem to remember an old computer game that was a lot like Rampage, but a knock off of it...it featured larger on screen characters. Was quite fun!

The only Rampage clone that I recall playing was Ramparts on C64. While in Rampage you control a mutant creature destroying city buildings, Ramparts was set in the middle ages and you controlled a knight destroying stone castles.
