I believe you could use magic as well.. It was a very old PC game, graphics were not that great if I remember. You could get different armor, like leather, chain, plate and all that.

Hmm, that's an awfully vague description.. Can you remember anything else? How old was it? Did it run in DOS or Windows? Were the graphics EGA, VGA, etc? I'm guessing it was an RPG? Did you control one character or a whole party?

Could it be one of the Wizardry games, I wonder?
