3D RPG similar to FFVII

I'm looking for a 3D RPG simillar to FFVII, it was for PC, I played a demo around the year 2002
The graphics were low polygon 3D with low res textures, like in final fantasy vii
I can't remember much about it, the fights were in a different screen than the main play, the fights were on a rotated square with a different texture depending on the place, with your party at the right and the enemies at the left.
I can remember that there was a town full of soldiers, and a snowy town where you were attacked by wolves. At some part a group of soldiers surround you and I never could beat that fight.
